truth be told and shown when youth was closer to now when you're having fun and whispering too curesque you stupid dirtbag feel the way that I do not the way I want to be having fun and running out doing things that I wouldn't do in the way that you would I would never as we look upon the house we were once told was our home we slip upon the ice to crack open the tiny childish dreams looking out of tear stained eyes we don't steal from the gold pit we mitigate it's sadness the heartbeat quickens then slows then stops the heartbeat so let's rejoice for our heads are bulbous and our souls are treacherous we don't steal from the gold pit we mitigate it's sadness we leave behind a stench of decadence like a cloak of happiness so let's rejoice for the future is always there to be taken like a pinprick oh shit

call the search party nowhere to be found climbing up a tree hidden underground the lights aren't bright and the streets aren't clean I won't calm down today and I won't act like I'm not sad today a bottle of whiskey is for my grave the vitamins help but it's all I crave for all is good and all is clean and all is taken from this scene

Dust Angels

the crops are dying and there isn't any rain in sight the bones on the side of the highway are bleaching white folks sit around with their shoulders hanging low they'd rather be anywhere else but there's nowhere to go pa's been sick hasn't been out of bed in days and ma's got a tired worried look on her face this sad place looks just like an old ghost town the people just stare at the dirt while the dogs just lay around and all these fools just sit around praying rain and the preacher man's sitting at his pulpit just explaining why it never came month by month the sky stays a pale shade of grey and one by one their faith slowly fades away me and sissy were making dust angels in the yard when the banker man came to forclose on our farm pa came out to try to speak some reason to him then ma showed up and stuck a 44 to his chin grampa came and took us by the arms to hide away me and sissy went and watched by the window pane mama pulled the trigger and blew the banker man away and thunder cracked and it started pouring rain loaded our belongings on the back of the old jalopy to join the masses of the hopeless dust bowl refugees pa's on his knees begging god for ma's salvation it's off to california to work on a grape plantation it's hell on earth working someone else's dirt we'll die in these fields if the law don't get us first it's a plague of broken dreams and muffled sounds it took a lifetime to build it up and one summer just to tear it down and all these fools just sit around praying for rain and the preacher man's sitting at his pulpit just explaining why it never came and month by month the sky stays a pale shade of grey and one by one their faith slowly fades away

don't be such a bore ahead out that door explore the sky is full of fireflies and pale white moonlight each star's a dying sun the day is long and the night is young the day is long but the night is young and each star's a dying sun there's beauty in these lonesome times the frogs and crickets croak and cry the stars are our blankets the moon is our flashlight and when you hear the whippoorwills it's time to come home soon it's time to come home soon when you hear the whippoorwills bitter aftertaste of wine I can't walk a straight line

if you're feeling like you need attention put on that special dress and set your grin walking around town in those hard boots to protect my feet from the street when you see me walking by tall tan young lovely but not quite wishing I had some direction for my steps but I can't see when I'm walking with my best friends I feel important but I'm not getting a little too used to this town my playground

Flesh & Bone
03:18
|

all we are is flesh and bone the lights are on but there's noone home a constellation of do's and don'ts and all we are is flesh and bone we aren't at all at home in our own bones all we are is sticks and stone some that we're struck by and some that we've thrown a quiet whisper through a tin can phone is often mistaken for the eternal soul we aren't at all at home in our own bones

Haunted Jungle

I am an apparition burnt my shadows to the wall light as birds but sinking like a sailor stealing change from wishing wells to buy my way into heaven train pulls in and train pulls out hope the rain doesn't put the fire out I've fallen in a windy pit with a millon orphaned lovers head out now I'm coming back the book's fallen out of it's cover holding on to a lizard's tail by this swollen river looking for a place to hide but it's always bright in the haunted jungle eight millimeter memories through a shakey lens there's an ocean between me and my friends
